♫One Self Powers Everything♫

A long time ago, The Man on The Beach told me that God is a Serpent. I know this to be true because the force of God moves like a serpent, and eventually arrives at the realization of Godhead.

It is shaping all the patterns of the moments yet to come

You can see it curling... like a serpent in the sand,

and the serpent is behind it, but you don’t understand

It’s not what you expected. It’s not the scene you thought-

was going to come upon you, or the battle to be fought.

When it suddenly appeared, with the weapon in its hand,

you are caught in wonder, and then you are unmanned

The monsters that we fight are reflections of ourselves

Our endless adversary just appears as someone else

There’s no sudden reckoning with villains from the past

It was always you... when the moment... came at last

You are just a charmer of the snakes that dance for you

a shimmering from side to side. The mirror gives the clue

and behind each different face, the ageless cobra waits

One self powers everything and holds the worlds in place

When will you discover that your enemy is you?

Waiting there in ambush while your shadow turns the screw

and tightens up the moment, to a powerful release

in a wild burst of action, and then... something like peace.

It never goes the way that you thought that it would go

where you’re bloody but unbowed, and everyone will know

You were meant to win the day, even if you lost the war

You know that looking good... is what you came here for

It’s the final ringing victory when all is said and done

You and your conflicted mind... the memories on the run

It’s the weapon of regret and the crimes of apathy

that measure out our moments in loss and tragedy

You are just a charmer of the snakes that dance for you

a shimmering from side to side. The mirror gives the clue

and behind each different face, the ageless cobra waits

One self powers everything and holds the worlds in place

In the end, it’s time and age that bring a body low

When there’s no one left to see and nowhere left to go

But you can tell your tales to the old men in the sun,

in these your final moments of all that distance run

It’s a sad and tired vanity, of camera shots and poses

Where you take the victory lap, and then they hand you roses,

but hindsight tells a different tale of one who isn’t seen

The invisible companion who never makes the screen

Was it something else? Was it more than it seemed?

Did it happen like you thought or... was it just a dream?

Will everyone remember or will everyone forget?

anything is possible... we haven’t got there yet.

You are just a charmer of the snakes that dance for you

a shimmering from side to side. The mirror gives the clue

and behind each different face, the ageless cobra waits

One self powers everything and holds the worlds in place

One self powers everything and holds the worlds in place
